On voit souvent des terrariums pour Morelia viridis<\/em> or Corallus caninus<\/em> \u00e9quip\u00e9s de perches horizontales relativement \u00e9paisses (4-8cm de diam\u00e8tre). Ce n’est en fait pas adapt\u00e9.<\/p>

David Wilson, dans le cadre de son \u00e9tude sur le comportement des M.viridis<\/em> intitul\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0Foraging ecology and diet of an ambush predator : the green tree python\u00a0\u00bb publi\u00e9e dans le livre Biology of the Boas and Pythons<\/em>, est all\u00e9 mesurer les perchoirs que choisissent ces serpents dans la nature.\u00a0<\/p>

Apr\u00e8s avoir fait un millier de mesures en suivant 27 individus, il a partag\u00e9 ses r\u00e9sultats sur le graphique ci-dessous. On peut voir que les jeunes serpents (size 1) choisissent des perches d’environ 8mm, tandis que les adultes (size 3) pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent les branches de de 12 \u00e0 18mm.\u00a0<\/p>

Pour ce qui est du Genre Corallus<\/em>, aucune \u00e9tude s\u00e9rieuse n’a \u00e9t\u00e9 faite \u00e0 ce sujet. En revanche, les clich\u00e9s pris in natura partag\u00e9 par des passionn\u00e9s sur le net montrent eux aussi que ces animaux pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent les perches tr\u00e8s fines par rapport \u00e0 leur taille.\u00a0<\/p>
